SENIOR CAPPING

"Fragments of Elsewhere" is my senior capstone project, created in response to the class theme, "Intertwined Getaway." While each student developed their own interpretation of the theme, I chose to focus on the ideas of escapism, freedom, and new beginnings. Through this lens, I created a series of six acrylic paintings inspired by the memories and emotions I experienced while studying abroad. Each painting captures a meaningful moment that shaped my journey, reflecting how travel can leave a lasting impact on both personal growth and perspective.

To accompany my senior capstone exhibition, I designed a business card for visitors to take with them as a lasting connection to both my work and my artistic identity. I wanted the design to feel personal while still reflecting the visual language of

"Fragments of Elsewhere".

The striped pattern was inspired by details within two of my paintings. The black-and-white stripes reference the iconic shirt worn by the gondolier in my Venice, Italy painting, while the green accent draws from the border color of my Florence, Italy piece.

Florence holds a special significance to me, as it was my home for four months while studying abroad. It was there that I attended classes, grew as both an artist and an individual, and created memories that continue to influence my work. By incorporating these elements into the business card, I was able to carry a small piece of that journey beyond the gallery.
